Questions

Can I copy, print and share the files?

Yes, freely. See the license.

Why Monero?

Because Monero: 1) keeps private who contributes and how much; 2) needs no bank or platform between the reader and the project.

Are the texts in the public domain?

Yes. The authors of the library died long ago, and the texts are taken from editions whose rights have expired.

How long does a digitization take?

It depends on the length and the language of the work: a dialogue of Plato takes days; a long treatise, weeks.

What if a work never reaches its price?

What it received stays assigned to it and counts when it is digitized. The works are also digitized progressively, even if at a slower pace.

How do I know the contributions are real?

Each work's page shows how much its address has received, and anyone can check it: with the main address and the private view key of the wallet, below, any Monero wallet can be restored as view-only, and it shows every contribution received, address by address. It cannot spend anything. Change from what the project spends returns to the main address, which no work uses.

Why is the work I want not here?

The library covers the classics of Western philosophy up to the end of the 19th century. Lost works have no page. To suggest an author or a work, see contact.

Is AI used?

Yes. OCR models and LLMs are used to recognize the pages and to make a first correction. Every text is then proofread against the edition by a person.
